INVENTORY CONTROLS

·                     Oracle Inventory provides Inventory Controls to track individual items or group of items when transactions are performed in an organization

·                     we have 6 types of Controls they are

·                     Locator

·                     Lot

·                     Serial

·                     Revision

·                     Grade

·                     Restriction

 Here now we discuss about 

 

Locator

 

Ø Locator Controls are used to divide sub inventories into Row, Rack and Bin in order to Locate an Item exactly where it is.

Ø It is also a one of the Key flex field (KFF).

·        Locators can be controlled at three levels

§  Organization

§  Sub-Inventory

§  Item

·        Following Controls are available at Each level

§  Organization

·        None

·        Prespecified

·        Dynamic Entry allowed

·        Determined at sub-inv level

§  Sub-Inventory

·        None

·        Prespecified

·        Dynamic Entry 

·        Item Level Control

§  Item

·        No Control

·        Prespecified

·        Dynamic Entry

Now we can define flex field

INV-> Setup -> Flex field -> Key-> Segment

Then select the inventory (stock locators) and click on the OK tab

Now we need to UNFREEZE FLEXFIELD and click on the SEGMENTS

Now we can create our own segments and enable the check boxes and save the screen

Then now we need to FREEZE FLEXFIELD and click on the COMPILE tab then click on OK tab 

After compile the segments there is a one concurrent program is running, we need to check that program is completed or not

v Organization:

Locator control: NONE

In Organization If the locator control is set to None, then we can't use Locator for the entire Organization.

Locator control: PREDEFINED

Now at Org Parameter level set Locator Control as Prespecified and save

When it is Prespecified then we should definitely define the Stock Locator 

Now we need to define a new LOCATORS

NAV-> setup-> organization-> Stock Locators

Now we can perform the Transaction. it allows only predefined one

Enter all details like ITEM, SUBINVENTORY, LOCATOR, ITEM QUANTITY

Now we can check the on-hand quantity 

Enter the SUBINVENTORY click on FIND tab

Now we can check the ON HAND QUANTITY

Locator Control: DYNAMIC ENTRY ALLOWED

 Now at Org Parameter level set Locator Control as Dynamic Entry Allowed

 When it is Dynamic Entry Allowed, then system allow us to enter the stock locator Manually.

Now let’s perform the TRANSACTION

 Enter all details like ITEM, SUBINVENTORY, LOCATOR, ITEM QUANTITY

It allowing us to enter locator manually

Now let’s check the ON-HAND QUANTITY

Locator Control: DETERMINE AT SUBINVENTORY

 Now at Org Parameter level set Locator Control as Determine at Sub-inventory level

 When it is Determine at Sub-inventory level, then we get access at sub-inventory level now we need to define locators at Sub-Inventory

v Sub-Inventory LEVEL:

Locator Control: NONE

In Sub-Inventory If the locator control is set to None, then we can't use Locator for the entire Sub-Inventory.

Locator Control: PRESPECIFIED

 

Now at Sub-Inventory level set Locator Control as Prespecified

 

When it is Prespecified, then we should definitely define the Stock Locator 

 

To set Locator Control at sub inventory level

INV -> Setup -> Organization -> Sub inventory

Now we need to define Stock Locator

INV -> Setup -> Organization -> Stock Locator

take as new and define your own locators

Now perform the TRANSACTION

It allowing only pre specified one

Now we can check the ONHAND QUANTITY

Locator control: DYNAMIC ENTRY ALLOWED

Now at Sub-Inventory level set Locator Control as Dynamic Entry Allowed

 When it is Dynamic Entry Allowed, then system allow us to enter the stock locator Manually.

 To set Locator Control at sub inventory level

INV-> Setup -> Organization -> Sub inventory

Now we can perform the TRANSACTION

It allows us to enter the stock locator Manually.

Now we can check the on-hand quantity at particular sub inventory

Locator Control: ITEM LEVEL CONTROL

 Now at Sub-Inventory level set Locator Control as Item level control

 When it is Item level control, then we get access at Item level now we need to define locators at Item Level

Now we need to define Stock Locator

INV-> Setup -> Organization -> Stock Locator

take as new and define your own locators and save

 

v  ITEM

Locator Control: NO CONTROL

In Item level If the locator control is set to No Control, then we can't use that item for the Locators.

Locator Control: PRESPECIFIED

Now at Item level set Locator Control as Prespecified

 When it is Prespecified, then we should definitely define the Stock Locator 

 To set Locator Control at Item level

INV -> Item -> Master item 

Create the item and assign it to Child Organization,

In Child org go to Inventory tab there set the Locator Control as Prespecified.

 

Assign the item at child org level

Now let’s perform the TRANSACTION

Now we can check the ON HAND QUANTITY

Locator Control: DYNAMIC ENTRY

 Now at Item level set Locator Control as Dynamic Entry.

 When it is Dynamic Entry, then system allow us to enter the stock locator Manually.

Now let’s perform the TRANSACTION

Now we can check the ON HAND QUANTITY
