              DESCRIPTIVE FLEXFIELD

DISCRIPTIVE FLEXFIELD: A descriptive flexfield is a field you customize to enter additional information for which your Oracle Applications product has not already provided a field.

NAV->Help->Diagnostics->Examine

Give the Block and Field details as shown below and click on OK tab

Now let’s define the DFF

NAV->Flexfields->Descriptive->Segments

Give the Application name as an Inventory and select Global Data Elements and click on Segments

Give the details which additional information you want and enable the Displayed and Enabled check box then select the segment and click on value set tab

Now let’s define the Value Set

Give the value set name and save the screen

Now attach the value set to Attribute

Now freeze it and Compile 

Now let’s check the program got completed or not. once the program got completed successfully then we can define the values to that value set

Now let’s define the Values

NAV->Flexfields->Descriptive->Values

Select the Value set and give the value set name and click on Find tab

Give the vales as shown below and save the record

Now let’s go to the Item form

NAV->Items->Master Items

Click on the DFF tab             

See now we get the DFFs whatever we created previously

Click on LOV and we get the values that we created previously

If you want one field as a required field and another one as an unrequired field

Now let’s go to the DFF segments select the segment and click on OK tab 

Disable the Required tab and save the record

Do the same as another one also here we Enable the required field and save the record

Now freeze it and compile it

Now see the below screen shot
